Chief Hycienth Ngwu, a former South-East Publicity Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC), urged Nigerians to demand accountability from governors and local government chairmen during a public statement in Enugu. Ngwu highlighted the need for transparency in infrastructure development and the distribution of democratic dividends, emphasizing 26 years of uninterrupted democracy. His remarks came as political tensions rise ahead of the 2027 presidential election.
Governors of Anambra, Ebonyi, Enugu, and Imo States have also called on citizens to prioritize the 2027 election, urging them to support President Bola Tinubu. During the APC Women Mega Rally and Empowerment Programme in the South-East, the governors stressed the importance of voting for Tinubu, warning against political distractions. They emphasized the need for unity and stability in the region.
The APC has been actively mobilizing support for Tinubu, with leaders like Abdullahi Yari, Director-General of the APC Presidential Campaign Council, highlighting his achievements as a basis for re-election. Yari’s comments suggest that Tinubu’s record in governance and economic management will be key factors in the upcoming election.
The political landscape in Nigeria remains highly competitive, with multiple parties vying for influence. The APC’s focus on accountability and electoral strategy reflects broader efforts to consolidate support ahead of the 2027 polls. As the campaign season intensifies, the emphasis on transparency and democratic participation continues to shape public discourse.
