President Bola Tinubu accused opposition politicians of creating hunger and poverty during his re-election campaign speech at the All Progressives Congress (APC) flag-off rally in Kaduna. Tinubu urged Nigerians to support his bid for a second term in 2027. The rally featured key APC figures including Vice President Kashim Shettima and Kaduna State Governor Uba Sani.

Tinubu’s remarks came as opposition leaders criticized his administration’s economic policies. Former Deputy National Publicity Secretary Timi Frank raised concerns about alleged plots against African leaders. Meanwhile, former PDP senator Francis Fadahunsi warned that prolonged governance by Governor Ademola Adeleke could harm Osun State.

Opposition figures responded with skepticism. AAC presidential candidate Omoyele Sowore mocked Tinubu’s claims of nationwide support, citing the limited attendance at the Kaduna rally. Former presidential candidate Atiku Abubakar criticized Tinubu for blaming the opposition for hunger, noting APC’s eight-year rule before Tinubu’s tenure.

The APC’s campaign rally also drew praise from the Minister of Information, Alhaji Mohammed Idris, who expressed confidence in Tinubu’s leadership. The event highlighted growing political tensions ahead of the 2027 election, with both sides accusing each other of misrepresenting public sentiment.
