The All Progressives Congress (APC) has officially launched its campaign for the 2027 presidential election, with President Bola Tinubu as the party’s candidate. The campaign began at a rally in Kaduna State, where Tinubu faced a mixed reception from the crowd. Some attendees reportedly booed him and chanted “Ba ma yi,” a phrase often used to express frustration or dissent. Despite the challenges, the APC has announced plans to intensify its efforts, with Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo, leading the air mobilisation operations.

The party has also called on former presiding officers of State Houses of Assembly to support Tinubu’s re-election bid. Senator Dr. Ajibola Basiru, the APC’s National Secretary, urged these officials to leverage their political influence and grassroots connections to mobilize widespread support. This follows the party’s recent by-election victory in Kebbi State, where Umar Hassan Augie was declared the winner in the Argungu/Augie Federal Constituency.

In Ondo State, the APC congratulated Governor Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa on his re-election and urged him to maintain unity within the party. The party emphasized the need for reconciliation with other candidates and a commitment to inclusive governance. Meanwhile, the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) has criticized the APC for distributing new Toyota Prado SUVs to youth leaders, a move seen by some as a political gesture.

The 2027 election is shaping up as a critical moment for the APC, with internal dynamics and public perception playing key roles in the campaign’s success. As the party prepares for a long and competitive race, the challenges it faces will be closely watched by political analysts and voters alike.
