The People’s Redemption Party’s chairman, Dr Hakeem Baba-Ahmed, has warned that voters in Northern Nigeria may reject the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in the 2027 general elections due to worsening insecurity, poverty, and economic hardship. Baba-Ahmed expressed concerns over the party’s ability to address these challenges, urging President Bola Tinubu to safeguard the credibility of the upcoming elections.
APC has launched its 2027 presidential campaign with Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo, leading air operations. The campaign began at a flag-off event in Kaduna State, where President Tinubu faced a hostile reaction from some attendees. A section of the crowd reportedly chanted “Ba ma yi,” a phrase often used to express frustration or dissent.
Social media activist VeryDarkMan criticized Tinubu’s re-election bid, stating he does not deserve a second term. Meanwhile, political analyst Dele Momodu argued that only a strong coalition of parties could challenge Tinubu’s re-election prospects.
The APC’s campaign has already encountered public resistance, highlighting growing dissatisfaction with the ruling party. Analysts suggest that Tinubu’s re-election depends on his ability to address economic and security concerns, which remain major challenges for the government. The 2027 elections are expected to be a critical test for the ruling party’s popularity and stability.
