The All Progressives Congress (APC) has officially launched its 2027 presidential re-election campaign for President Bola Tinubu. The campaign began with a rally in Kaduna State, where party leaders and supporters gathered to express confidence in Tinubu’s leadership. The event was marked by speeches from key figures, including Yilwatda, who emphasized the need for Tinubu’s second term.

The APC claims that opposition parties such as the PDP, APGA, and Accord Party are now supporting Tinubu’s re-election bid. This alliance is seen as a strategic move to focus the campaign on delivery records rather than political rivalry. Information Minister Alhaji Mohammed Idris praised the rally, stating that Tinubu is loved by Nigerians and that the campaign reflects the party’s unity.

Barrister Princewill Dike, a chieftain of the APC in Rivers State, has recommended Nyesom Wike, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, to lead Tinubu’s re-election campaign. Dike argued that Wike is the most qualified candidate for the role due to his experience and political acumen.

Atiku, a former presidential candidate, criticized the APC for blaming opposition parties for hunger, arguing that the APC governed Nigeria for eight years before his tenure. He accused the APC of dodging responsibility by shifting blame.

Tinubu himself has pledged to eradicate inherited hunger and poverty during his second term. His campaign team has also faced criticism over the use of rented seats during the flag-off rally, with some accusing the APC of staging an empty campaign.

The APC’s re-election efforts come amid ongoing political tensions and debates over leadership and governance in Nigeria. The party’s strategy to align with opposition parties and leverage internal figures like Wike highlights its efforts to consolidate support ahead of the 2027 election.
