President Bola Tinubu has called on Nigerians to support his re-election in the 2027 presidential election. Speaking at the All Progressives Congress (APC) campaign launch in Kaduna, Tinubu thanked voters for electing him in 2023 and emphasized that a renewed mandate would enable his administration to continue driving national development.
Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde has criticized Tinubu’s government, accusing it of misleading the public with claims of a $55.16bn increase in foreign reserves. Makinde, a presidential candidate for the Allied Peoples Movement (APM), argues that the economic situation remains dire, with Nigerians still struggling with hunger and hardship.
Meanwhile, APC National Chairman Nentawe Yilwatda Goshwe has defended Tinubu, stating that the president has earned the confidence of Nigerians through his leadership and commitment to national progress. The APC campaign aims to position Tinubu as the best candidate for the 2027 election.
Opposition groups, including the Omoyele Sowore-Magashi Campaign, have also criticized the Tinubu administration, dismissing its 90-day economic relief plan as a political maneuver to secure votes rather than a genuine effort to address economic challenges.
The political landscape in Nigeria remains highly competitive, with multiple parties vying for influence ahead of the 2027 election. Tinubu’s campaign highlights his vision for economic recovery, while critics argue that his government has not delivered on key promises. The upcoming election will likely be shaped by ongoing debates over economic management and public trust.
