The Pan-Igbo Youth Assembly, PIYA, has demanded the removal of INEC commissioners in Imo, Anambra, and Ebonyi states following allegations of misconduct. The umbrella body of youth associations in Igbo-speaking areas issued a seven-day ultimatum for the commissioners to resign.

PIYA accused the INEC officials of failing to uphold electoral integrity and transparency. The group called for immediate action, citing ongoing irregularities in the electoral process. The commissioners have not yet responded to the ultimatum.

The demand comes amid rising tensions over the conduct of recent elections in the region. PIYA has previously raised concerns about the handling of voter registration and ballot counting. This latest move follows a series of protests and public calls for accountability. The situation highlights growing dissatisfaction with the electoral commission’s performance in these states.
