A Learjet crashed in a residential area of Palm Beach County, Florida, killing all nine people on board, according to federal investigators. The private Bombardier jet, which had taken off from Austin, Texas, was heading to the Bahamas.
Video footage captured the aircraft's rapid nosedive, with parts of the plane likely breaking off midair before impact. The National Transportation Safety Board confirmed the jet may have disintegrated before hitting the ground at high speed. Heavy rainfall and thunderstorms were reported in the area at the time of the crash.
The victims included a family traveling to the Bahamas for a birthday celebration. The co-pilot, identified as a 20-year-old, was among those killed. Tributes highlighted the family’s devotion, describing them as parents who touched many lives. The CEO of a tech company and his family were also on board, with the CEO’s father-in-law issuing a statement expressing deep sorrow.
The crash occurred on Sunday, with investigators still examining the cause. The NTSB is expected to release more details in the coming days. The incident has raised questions about weather conditions and aircraft safety during stormy weather.
