Senate impeachment proceedings against Vice President Sara Duterte continued with procedural adjustments as prosecutors streamlined their case. On Day 27 of the trial, Senate impeachment presiding officer Francis Escudero upheld the defense’s objection to the inclusion of two firms in the testimony of SEC witness lawyer Gerardo del Rosario. The firms, Pikimong Pikimong Philippines Corp. And JTC Group of Companies, were excluded from the witness list.
Meanwhile, prosecutors dropped a Civil Service Commission (CSC) official from their witness lineup and rescheduled another witness to appear on Tuesday. This move aims to simplify the presentation of evidence. Bicol Saro Party-list Representative Terry Ridon informed the Senate impeachment court about the change. The adjustments reflect efforts to accelerate the trial process.
