Former Norwegian Sky to sail India's west coast in 2026
Cordelia Sky, a former Norwegian Sky ship, is set to begin cruises from Mumbai in October 2026. The vessel will offer itineraries to Goa and Lakshadweep, with additional Southeast Asia routes planned for 2027. The cruise line has announced the new route as part of its expanding portfolio in the Indian market.
Indian protest leader detained before rally
Abhijeet Dipke, leader of the "Scarafaggi" (Cockroach Janta Party) movement, was arrested by Indian police ahead of an unauthorised protest against the Election Commission. The arrest occurred just before Dipke and two other activists, Saurav Das and Ashutosh Ranka, were set to disembark from a flight. The group had planned to hold a demonstration in response to recent election-related issues.
Protest movement targets election commission
The "Scarafaggi" movement has been active in opposing what its members describe as unfair electoral practices. The group has previously organised rallies and used social media to mobilise support. The recent arrest comes amid heightened tensions over electoral transparency and governance.
The arrest highlights the government's efforts to manage public dissent. Officials have not commented on the specific charges against Dipke and his associates. The planned rally remains a point of controversy, with activists claiming it was a legitimate expression of political opinion.
The incident underscores the ongoing challenges of balancing free speech with law enforcement in India. As the country continues to navigate complex social and political dynamics, such events reflect the broader tensions between protest movements and state authority.
