The Yangwang U9 Xtreme, a high-performance electric car from China's BYD, set a new world speed record in Abu Dhabi, reaching 503.17 km/h. The achievement was officially recognized by the FIA and added to the Guinness World Records. The vehicle, part of BYD's luxury brand, features four electric motors and advanced technology to push electric vehicle performance to new limits.
The record-breaking run took place near Abu Dhabi, where the car, driven by a German racing professional, surpassed the 500 km/h threshold. This marks the first time a mass-produced electric vehicle has officially exceeded this speed. The U9 Xtreme is part of BYD's efforts to showcase its technological capabilities in the luxury and high-performance automotive sectors.
BYD, a leading Chinese automaker, has been increasingly focused on electric vehicle innovation. The U9 Xtreme's success follows previous attempts by the company, including a failed speed record attempt in China. This latest achievement highlights the growing competitiveness of Chinese manufacturers in the global automotive industry, particularly in the realm of electric vehicles. The record underscores the rapid advancements in battery technology and vehicle engineering, positioning BYD as a key player in the future of high-speed electric transportation.
