Pakistan and Iran have emphasized the importance of diplomatic efforts to achieve lasting peace and stability in the region. Both nations reaffirmed their commitment to maintaining dialogue and cooperation to address shared challenges.
Pakistan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar engaged in a telephone conversation with Iran’s Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi. The call took place amid heightened diplomatic activity involving Iran, Oman, Saudi Arabia, and Qatar. The discussions followed the US midterm elections, which marked a significant setback for President Donald Trump’s foreign policy.
The diplomatic engagement comes as regional tensions persist, particularly in the context of the conflict between Saudi Arabia and Iran-backed Houthi rebels in Yemen. Turkey, Saudi Arabia, and Pakistan have recently ratified a defense cooperation agreement. This pact aims to strengthen regional security and support Saudi Arabia’s efforts in Yemen.
The renewed diplomatic focus reflects a broader trend of regional powers seeking to manage tensions through dialogue rather than confrontation. Both Pakistan and Iran have stressed the need for sustained diplomatic efforts to prevent escalation and promote long-term stability. The situation underscores the complex interplay of regional alliances and the ongoing search for peaceful resolutions to conflicts.
