JAC T9 pick-up trucks will be locally assembled in Malaysia starting next year. Malaysian distributor Evolvelectric Motors has signed an agreement with FT Assembly, a subsidiary of Feytech, to produce the vehicles in three variants: plug-in hybrid electric, fully electric, and diesel. The agreement focuses on complete knock-down (CKD) assembly, meaning parts will be imported and then assembled locally.
Production of plug-in hybrid and fully electric versions is expected to begin in the coming months. The move marks JAC’s first local assembly of electric pick-up trucks in Malaysia. The diesel variant will also be available, though production timelines for that version have not been specified.
This initiative follows growing demand for electric vehicles in Malaysia. The government has been promoting green mobility through incentives and infrastructure development. JAC’s decision aligns with regional trends toward sustainable transportation. The local assembly is expected to create jobs and support the country’s automotive industry. The project is part of JAC’s broader strategy to expand its electric vehicle presence in Southeast Asia.
