Egypt has pledged to provide Saudi Arabia with the military support it needs to defend its security and stability, according to the presidency. The offer comes as Iran-aligned Houthi rebels in Yemen intensify attacks on Saudi territory.

President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi requested an urgent session of parliament to authorise Egypt’s military assistance to Saudi Arabia if the kingdom sought help against Houthi attacks. The move follows a series of missile and drone strikes by the Houthis, which have targeted Saudi infrastructure.

The Egyptian parliament postponed a vote on military support for Saudi Arabia, as officials prepared to approve the request. The Houthi attacks have caused significant damage, including a strike on Riyadh’s international airport that killed at least 12 people and injured over 300.

The Houthi rebels, backed by Iran, have launched multiple attacks on Saudi Arabia this month. Egypt and Pakistan have condemned these attacks, reaffirming their support for Saudi Arabia’s security and territorial integrity.

This follows a broader regional effort to counter Iranian influence in Yemen, with Egypt playing a key role in diplomatic and military coordination. The situation highlights the ongoing tensions between regional powers and the impact of proxy conflicts on neighboring countries.
