Apple has launched a series of AI-powered smart home products in China, marking a significant expansion of its ecosystem in the region. The new devices include HomeView, a smart display with AI capabilities, and an updated version of the HomePod mini, which now features Siri AI. These products are part of Apple’s broader strategy to enhance its presence in the Chinese market through advanced technology.
The HomeView device, priced at $299, features a 7-inch touchscreen without physical buttons, offering a grid of apps familiar to iPhone and iPad users. It integrates Apple Intelligence, allowing for facial recognition and seamless device management. The HomePod mini 2, now available in Mexico, includes improved audio quality and will receive Siri AI through a future update. These updates align with Apple’s global rollout of AI features, which began in the United States two years ago.
Apple Intelligence, a suite of AI tools, is set to debut in China with iOS 27.3 in December. This update will include some of Apple’s earlier AI features, though not the latest Siri AI. The company is also offering a tool, RemoveMacAI, that allows users to disable AI features on macOS 27 devices, freeing up to 12 GB of storage. These developments reflect Apple’s ongoing efforts to balance innovation with user preferences in the Chinese market.
The expansion of Apple’s smart home offerings in China follows a growing trend of tech companies investing in AI-driven home solutions. With increasing demand for smart devices and AI integration, Apple aims to solidify its position in the competitive Chinese tech landscape. The launch of these products underscores the company’s commitment to delivering advanced, user-friendly technology tailored to local needs.
