The Nigerian president, Bola Tinubu, has officially confirmed that his re-election campaign for the 2027 general election will begin in Kaduna State on October 24. The announcement was made by Senator Abdulaziz Yari, Director-General of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Presidential Campaign Council (PCC), following a meeting with Tinubu at the State House in Abuja. Yari stated that the campaign will focus on mobilizing support across key states ahead of the election.
The campaign launch in Kaduna marks the first major event in Tinubu's re-election strategy. The APC has been preparing for the 2027 elections, with officials emphasizing the need to strengthen party unity and voter engagement. Meanwhile, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has begun issuing Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) in Abuja as part of its voter registration process for the same election. The PVC collection started at Government Secondary School in Area 10, Garki, but turnout was reported to be low.
Tinubu's re-election bid comes amid ongoing political dynamics in Nigeria, including recent efforts to reform electoral processes and address public concerns over transparency. The 2027 election is expected to be a significant political milestone, with multiple candidates vying for power. As preparations continue, the focus remains on ensuring a smooth and credible electoral process.
