A kindergarten and a medical complex in Riyadh were damaged by debris from a Houthi ballistic missile intercepted over the city, according to Saudi Civil Defense. The incident occurred on Thursday as emergency teams responded to the damage caused by fragments from the intercepted missile. The missile was launched by the Houthi militia in Yemen.
The Saudi-led coalition intercepted the missile, which was aimed at the capital. The debris struck the two facilities, causing material damage. Civil Defense confirmed the missile had been launched from Yemen and that the interception was carried out as standard procedure.
This follows a series of attacks by the Houthi group targeting Saudi infrastructure. Earlier this week, a plane was reported to have billowed smoke at Riyadh airport as part of escalating Houthi attacks. The Saudi-led coalition has intercepted multiple ballistic missiles fired from Yemen, including three in a single day.
The attacks have intensified in recent months, with the Houthi group targeting both military and civilian infrastructure in Saudi Arabia. The government has condemned the attacks and reiterated its commitment to defending national security. The incident in Riyadh highlights the ongoing conflict and the risks posed by the Houthi militia's actions.
