A 16-year-old boy has been identified as the suspect in a deadly shooting at an elementary school in Oregon. John J. Griffin is believed to have opened fire on students and staff, killing three children and a teacher. Law enforcement officials confirmed that the gun used in the attack was purchased by Griffin’s mother around the time of his birthday in August.

Griffin was apprehended after a bystander intervened. Kaylub Giamanco, a 36-year-old carpenter and father of two, heard gunshots and saw Griffin running toward Silver Rail Elementary School in Bend, Oregon. Giamanco then drove to the school and confronted Griffin in a special education room. He subdued the suspect, preventing further casualties.

This incident follows a pattern of recent school shootings in the United States. The Oregon case has sparked renewed calls for stricter gun control measures. Officials are currently reviewing the circumstances surrounding the purchase of the weapon and the mental health history of the suspect. The community is in shock, with parents and educators demanding greater safety measures for students.
