Vice President Kashim Shettima left Addis Ababa for Abuja after attending a three-day nutrition leadership exchange with Ethiopia. The forum, themed “Moving the Needle on Nutrition,” focused on improving food security and health outcomes. Shettima led a Nigerian delegation including governors and ministers. Discussions centered on collaborative strategies to address malnutrition. The event took place from October 7 to 9.

The exchange aimed to strengthen bilateral cooperation in public health. Nigerian officials emphasized the importance of shared knowledge and resources. Ethiopian counterparts highlighted regional challenges in nutrition. The forum included workshops and policy reviews. Shettima’s team issued a statement from Abuja confirming the conclusion of talks.

This is the second such forum between Nigeria and Ethiopia in two years. Previous meetings focused on agricultural development and health infrastructure. Both nations face similar challenges in rural access to nutritious food. The current exchange included new data on child malnutrition rates. The outcomes will guide future joint projects. The Nigerian delegation plans to submit a report to the federal government.
