The Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) held a high-level roundtable in Beijing with Nigerian and Chinese business leaders on 21 October 2026. The meeting focused on strengthening financial ties between the two nations.
The event, themed “Strengthening the Nigeria–China Financial Corridor,” aimed to explore opportunities for deeper financial market integration. Discussions included removing barriers to cross-border payments and improving banking relationships.
This initiative follows recent efforts by both countries to enhance economic collaboration. The CBN has previously expressed interest in smoother financial flows and greater cooperation with Chinese institutions.
Nigeria’s financial reforms under President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda have drawn attention from international partners. Chinese officials have shown willingness to deepen ties through media collaboration and professional exchanges.
The meeting marks a continuation of diplomatic and economic engagement between Nigeria and China. Both sides are working to create more efficient financial systems and support mutual growth.
