Malaysian distributor Evolvelectric Motors has signed an agreement to locally assemble JAC T9 pick-up trucks in electric and plug-in hybrid variants. The partnership with FT Assembly, a subsidiary of Feytech, will enable the production of the vehicles in Malaysia. The agreement covers the assembly of the trucks in complete knock-down (CKD) form.

The deal includes the production of both electric and plug-in hybrid versions of the JAC T9. Diesel variants will also be assembled locally. The production of electric and hybrid models is expected to begin soon. The move marks a significant step in the local automotive industry.

This collaboration comes as Malaysia seeks to boost its manufacturing capabilities in the electric vehicle sector. The country has been promoting local assembly as part of its strategy to reduce reliance on imports. The JAC T9 is a popular model in the region, and its local production could increase market access for the brand. The agreement is part of broader efforts to diversify the automotive supply chain.
