The Senate of the Philippines has seen a majority of citizens express confidence in its role as an impeachment court, according to a recent survey. Momentum Research conducted a national survey in August 2026, which included responses from 1,487 Filipinos. The findings indicate that 53.5% of respondents trust the Senate’s fairness in its impeachment proceedings.
Of those surveyed, 40.4% expressed confidence in the court’s impartiality, while 13.1% were very confident. The survey highlights public perception of the Senate’s ability to conduct fair and transparent impeachment trials. The results reflect a general optimism about the judicial process, despite ongoing political tensions.
This trust comes amid heightened scrutiny of political figures and allegations of financial impropriety. Earlier in the same month, the presidential palace called for an investigation into claims that a company linked to the vice president’s husband received over P319 million from China. While the Senate’s role in impeachment remains a focal point, the survey underscores a public expectation of accountability and transparency in political processes.
