Israeli forces have displaced over 2,700 Palestinians in the West Bank, including 1,500 in Hebron, following a deadly attack on Israeli soldiers. The operation, which began after two Palestinian gunmen killed two Israeli soldiers at a military checkpoint, involved the demolition of homes and the forced evacuation of residents from two neighborhoods. Local officials reported that 1,000 more Palestinians face displacement as the military continues its operation.
In Hebron, Israeli forces sealed off the densely populated Al-Jaladah and Ein Deir Baha neighborhoods, ordering residents to leave their homes. The mayor of Hebron, Yousef Al-Jaabari, stated that about 200 families were displaced on Saturday. The military imposed sweeping closures and restricted movement in the area. In the West Bank, Israeli forces demolished homes, leading to the displacement of 1,200 people.
The crackdown follows the killing of two Israeli soldiers by Palestinian gunmen on Friday. Palestinian officials accused Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu of launching a politically motivated “collective punishment” in the West Bank. The operation comes just days before Israel's election, raising concerns about the timing and intent of the military actions.
The situation has intensified tensions in the region, with reports of armed Israeli settlers attempting to break into Palestinian homes in the southern port city of Aden. The Houthis claimed responsibility for targeting the Al-Nasr camp and a naval military base. The ongoing conflict continues to impact civilian life, with displacement and property destruction reported across multiple areas.
