The International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD) has joined Nigeria’s Federal Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security, along with the World Bank Group, to launch the Nigeria AgriConnect Compact. This initiative aims to transform the country’s agriculture sector, create jobs, and improve food and nutrition security.

The program focuses on key value chains and priority regions, with the goal of increasing productivity and sustainability. It includes investments in infrastructure, technology, and training for farmers. The collaboration brings together international expertise and local knowledge to address challenges in the sector.

The launch of AgriConnect comes as Nigeria seeks to reduce its reliance on food imports and enhance self-sufficiency. The initiative is expected to support smallholder farmers and improve market access. It also aligns with broader economic development goals in the country.

The partnership marks a significant step in Nigeria’s efforts to modernize its agricultural practices and support rural economies. The program will be implemented in phases, with initial focus on pilot projects in key agricultural zones.
