A second projectile struck the passenger terminal at Riyadh’s King Khalid International Airport, according to officials. The attack occurred hours after a previous strike that killed 12 people and injured over 300. The Saudi-led coalition confirmed the latest incident, which caused a fire but no immediate casualties.
The first attack, attributed to Houthi rebels, targeted the same terminal and resulted in fatalities. A second strike, described as an “unknown projectile,” hit the same location, prompting emergency response. The Saudi government condemned the attacks, reaffirming its sovereignty. Pakistan’s Prime Minister also expressed solidarity, calling the assault a “red line.”
The Houthi group, backed by Iran, has been engaged in a conflict with Saudi Arabia and its allies in Yemen. Saudi air defenses have struggled to intercept the missiles, raising concerns about regional security. International reactions have included travel advisories, with Canada advising against visiting the airport while maintaining embassy operations.
The repeated attacks highlight the ongoing conflict between Houthi rebels and Saudi Arabia. The situation underscores the volatility of the region and the challenges faced by military defenses. As tensions rise, diplomatic efforts continue to address the escalating crisis.
